St Therese Youth ( Also known as A.C.T.S. A Call To Serve)
The St Therese Youth group was re-established in 2016, representative of the different communities within the parish. The diverse group of young individuals come together in their common commitment to their Catholic faith and their passion to serve.
The parish youth group is very active among parish activities as well as diocese activities, taking part in events such as the World Youth Day Auckland Experience and Central Diocesan Youth Mass. Within the parish, the youth often help out with social events, aiding the fundraising committee in any way they can.
The group have participated in such activities to build on their spiritual journey and help strengthen their relationship with God. Outside the parish, the group also carol sing at resthomes, assist in can collections, and pack food parcels at City Mission.
The parish has given the opportunity for the youth group to sing the mass and lead the rosary before mass every first Sunday of the month. Choir practice for the monthly masses are held on the Tuesday before the monthly mass.The group meets once a month every third Sunday to discuss plans for the month and to catch up
A.C.T.S participate in many liturgical and spiritual activities in the Parish. In addition to that they also have fun activities, picnics, movie nights and sleepovers.
The following is a timeline* for each month:
- 2nd Sunday after 9.30am Mass: “Youth Time” to enjoy spending time with each other. A time to build our relationships with each other. A time to come together as One. A time of prayer, games and other activities including food!!
- Saturday (6pm) before 4th Sunday: Choir Practice. A time devoted to fulfill our liturgical responsibilities.
- 4th Sunday: Youth Mass.
