St Therese Youth
The St Therese Youth group was re-established in 2016, representative of the different communities within the parish. The diverse group of young individuals come together in their common commitment to their Catholic faith and their passion to serve with guidance from spiritual parents.
The parish youth group is very active among parish activities as well as diocese activities, taking part in events such as the World Youth Day Auckland Experience and Central Diocesan Youth Mass. Within the parish, the youth often help out with social events that have been planned by the parish.
The group have participated in such activities to build on their spiritual journey and help strengthen their relationship with God. Outside the parish, the group also carol sing at resthomes, assist in can collections, and pack food parcels at City Mission. The parish has given the opportunity for the youth group to lead the choir for mass every First Sunday of the month. The group meet once a month for choir practice which is usually held on the Tuesday before the First Sunday of the month. After the youth mass, they have a meeting and discuss the upcoming month’s activities and reflect on the previous month. These are the main times of the year that the group gather, while other activities are planned as the months go by and the group is informed, such as fundraisers, fun events, or retreats.
